Vienna talks not to be affected by Iran election, its results: Gov't spox

Tehran, June 1, IRNA – Spokesman for the Iranian Government Ali Rabiei announced on Tuesday that talks between Tehran and 4+1 in Vienna, Austria, are not affected not at all by the upcoming presidential election and its results.

Vienna talks will continue on its independent and legal way, within the framework of the system policies and under the guidelines of the Supreme Leader to reach favorable outcome, Rabiei told reporters at his weekly press conference in Tehran.

Asked about obstacles to the way of removal of the sanctions, Rabiei said no major hindrance is on talks about revival of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Former US president Donald Trump withdrew unilaterally from the JCPOA in May 2018 and imposed as he claimed the highest level of sanctions against Iran in November the same year.

As Rabiei stated, principled agreements on measures to be taken by the sides to return to implementation of the deal have been reached.

He went on to say that minor disagreements will be solved through political will in the capital cities.

Rabiei further expressed hope that full revival of the JCPOA could be declared before the next Iranian government takes office.

Basis is nation’s rights and system’s supreme national interests, he added.

Turning to relations between Tehran and Caracas, government spokesman said their ties are not against any third countries.

Referring to travel of two Iranian ships to Venezuela, Rabiei said there is nothing abnormal in two countries’ friendly relations.

This is Iran’s absolute right to continue its friendly military, cultural, political and economic ties based on international regulations with all world nations, he stressed.

Iran extended hand of friendship to the region when wickedness of Trump was at the peak, so Tehran’s stance on the fight against terrorism and establishment of peace is clear, he underlined.
