The event is slated to be held in Busan Cinema Center on October 3-12.
"The 24th edition starts up with director Yerlan Nurmukhambetov and Lisa Takeba's opening film, The Horse Thieves," BIFF official website said.
It added: "Roads of Time. Nurmukhambetov was the recipient of the New Currents Awards at the 20th Busan International Film Festival for Walnut Tree."
"The Asian Filmmaker of the Year Award is awarded to a notable film professional or organization who has made the most outstanding contributions to developing the Asian film industry and culture."
