Pakistan to sign agreements with Iran to facilitate pilgrims

Islamabad, March 9, IRNA - Pakistan's Religious Affairs Minister Nurul Haq Qadri said that the government would sign an agreement with Iran to regulate pilgrimage to holy sites in the country just like Hajj, local media reported.

Addressing a Media Awareness Workshop about Hajj in Islamabad, he said Pakistan would also sign such agreements with the governments of Iraq and Syria.

Qadri added that the government is taking all measures to facilitate intending Hajj pilgrims this year.

The minister said soon a bill will be introduced to regularize Ziaraat and Umra.

Earlier the Senate Standing Committee on Interior had suggested the religious ministry that in coordination with interior ministry they should finalize the Ziarat Policy like the existing Hajj Policy to regulate and facilitate the pilgrims.

Religious tourism between Iran and Pakistan witnessed unprecedented surge as during the months of Muharram and Safar of this Islamic year over 75,000 Pakistani pilgrims visited religious places in Iran.
