According to IRNA's foreign policy group, the World Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), was established in 1889 with more than 180 members from the parliaments of the world.
The occasion brings together all IPU statutory bodies, including the Governing Council, Standing Committees, Committees on the Human Rights of Parliamentarians and on Middle East Questions, as well as the Forum of Women Parliamentarians and the Forum of Young MPs.
This session with the slogan "Parliamentary diplomacy: Building bridges for peace and understanding" which will continue until 27 March, provides a platform for delegates to deliberate, exchange views and galvanize parliamentary action in this area.
The assembly is set to pass resolutions on some of the emergency issues being faced by the world such as social and human effects of automatic weapons system and artificial intelligence as well as issues related to climate action, access to clean and affordable energy.
The Iranian delegation led by Mojtabi Reza Khah will participate in four specialized committees, including the Assembly of Representatives. Abbas Golro, Elham Azad, Ahmed Naderi, Mojtabi Yousefi and Rahim Zare are part of the delegation.
On the first day, during the meetings of the parliaments of the Islamic countries and the Assembly of Asian Parliaments, the Iranian delegation emphasized the need for a consensus among Islamic and Asian countries to deal with the crimes of the Zionist regime against the Palestinians.
