What happened in Dahiyeh could not go unanswered: Hezbollah official

Tehran, IRNA – A senior Lebanese cleric has announced that what happened in Beirut’s southern area Dahiyeh earlier this week that led to the death of a senior leader of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas could not go unanswered.

Mohammed Yazbek, the chairman of the religious council of Lebanon's Hezbollah, made the remarks in response to the January 2 assassination of Saleh al-Arouri, the Lebanese Al Ahed news website said on Sunday.

Hezbollah launched missile attacks on Meron base in the Mount Jarmaq in the northern occupied lands in reaction to the assassination of the Hamas leader and his companions, the cleric said.

The Islamic resistance is in real war with the Zionist enemy, he noted while stressing that “We support the residents in Gaza and the West Bank while we defend our own country.”

He also hailed a Friday speech delivered by the Secretary General of Hezbollah Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah through which he hailed the resistance’s move to outflank the Israeli regime.

After Nasrallah’s speech, Israel's Meron base was bombarded by 62 missiles.
