Western media cover news based on their governments' foreign policy: Turkish journalist

Tehran, IRNA - Yusuf Özkar, member of the executive board of Turkey’s Anadolu news agency believes that Western media outlets reflect news within the framework of their governments' foreign policy, staying away from their main mission to disseminate truth.

Özkar made the comment on the sidelines of the 18th General Assembly of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agency (OANA) in Tehran on Tuesday.

He said that OANA, as an international news organization, possesses high capabilities.

The Turkish journalist also said most of member states of OANA, including Japan, South Korean, Turkey and Iran, act independently when it comes to foreign policy.

The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) is hosting the 18th General Assembly of OANA that kicked off in the capital Tehran on October 24.

During the two-day gathering, around 60 senior directors, managers, and editors from 35 OANA member states discussed various topics, including the development and strengthening of media cooperation.

IRNA along with Fars and Mehr news agencies are the three media agencies in Iran, which represent the country in OANA.
