Demonstrators in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul denounced actions aimed at driving a wedge between the Iranian and Afghan nations, calling for unity between the two neighbors in the face of conspiracies to poison their friendly relations.

-- IRGC commander: Death of all US leaders would not avenge Gen. Soleimani’s assassination

The killing of all American leaders would not be enough to avenge the US assassination of Iran’s top commander Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani two years ago, a senior commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said on Wednesday.

-- Oil prices keep rising with falling supplies in focus

Oil prices rose by more than 2% on Wednesday after Moscow said that peace talks with Ukraine had hit a dead end, fuelling supply worries, while weak economic data from China and Japan kept a lid on gains.

President Biden’s administration is expected to approve an additional $750 million in military assistance to Ukraine that will include Howitzer artillery, U.S. media reports said Wednesday.
It’s not clear precisely when Biden plans to announce the new assistance. The new assistance comes as Ukrainian leaders are pleading for more military help in their war with Russia.

A large number of Afghan citizens participated in a gathering in Kabul on Wednesday to show their vigilance against the hypocrisy of the enemies of the Iranian and Afghan nations. The rally in the Afghan capital to condemn the attack on Iranian diplomatic facilities ended with the reading of a joint statement.

A research associate at the Centre for Air Power Studies (CAPS) in New Delhi says that Imran Khan’s ousting showed the weakness of democratic institutions in face of military-backed figures. “Imran Khan’s shortened tenure and the crisis his ousting offers a sharp reminder of the tenuousness of its democratic institutions in face of the mightily powerful political force wielded by the military,” Mahima Duggal tells the Tehran Times.
