-- Iran oil exports up 40% despite sanctions

The minister of economic affairs and finance said that Iran’s oil exports have witnessed 40 percent growth during the past five months despite the sanctions against the country. This growth was achieved while US anti-Iran sanctions did not decrease and the Vienna talks have not reached a definite result, Ehsan Khandouzi told Iran’s Arabic news channel, Al Alam.
American officials have confessed to their defeat in the “maximum pressure” policy on Iran, the minister noted.

-- Iran minister calls for development of border markets with Pakistan

Iran’s Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi said improving conditions in Mirjaveh border market of Sistan and Baluchestan Province, on the border with Pakistan, must be on the agenda of provincial officials.
During a visit to the Mirjaveh border market and border terminal, he said the reopening of the Mirjaveh border terminal is a favorable event and will be very instrumental in improving livelihoods of border residents.

-- Efforts underway to register Kashan as World City of Traditional Textile

The city of Kashan in the central province of Isfahan was introduced to World Crafts Council as a candidate for recognition as the World City of Traditional Textile, said the head of the city’s Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Department.
Speaking in an exclusive interview to Iran Daily, Mehran Sarmadian said that that textile production has a long history in Kashan and a large number of workshops are active in the city. “Kashan was selected as the National City of Traditional Textile in 2018,” he noted.

-- ‘Solution to Ukraine war is dialogue’

Mohammad Jamshidi, an official at the president’s office in charge of political affairs, said on Friday that the Russians' security concerns about NATO military expansion are well understood.

However, he added that the solution to the problem is to have peaceful dialogue. "What is happening in Ukraine is a geopolitical change that is happening in the country," Jamshidi said in reference to the Russian attack on Ukraine on Thursday morning after recognizing two separatist-held enclaves in Ukraine as independent breakaway republics on Monday. 

-- Iran-Japan dialogue held on “Environment in Islam and Shinto”

The second session of interfaith dialogue between Iran and Japan was held in Tokyo on Tuesday, with the theme of “Environment in Islam and Shinto”.

Held by the Iranian Cultural Center in Japan in cooperation with the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), the event was attended by a number of cultural and religious officials from the two countries who delivered speeches in person or via video conference.

-- Elamite inscription attributed to Xerxes the Great found in Persepolis

Experts of the UNESCO-registered Persepolis have discovered a fragment of Elamite inscription which is attributed to Xerxes the Great. They discovered the object during a classification and documentation project of the inscribed objects and fragmentary inscriptions at the reserves of the Persepolis Museum.

“A large part of the text of this inscription is, in fact, a copy of the inscription of [the Achaemenid king] Darius I on both sides of the entrance to the tomb in Naghsh-e Rostam, and parts of this inscription were discovered during an excavation led by [German archaeologist and Iranologist Ernst Emil] Herzfeld in an area called Fartedaran,” IRNA quoted archaeologist Soheil Delshad as saying on Thursday.

-- Iran’s Taremi Nominated for UEFA Europa League Player of Week

Iranian striker Mehdi Taremi, who played outstandingly in Porto vs Lazio play-off, was put on the list of candidates for the UEFA Europa League Player of the Week.
Mehdi Taremi was one of the pillars who helped his team, Porto, to reach the 1/8 finals.
He was yellow-carded for a foul on him which was considered a simulation by the referee. However, after a look at the pitchside monitor, the referee announced a penalty kick for Porto. Taremi converted the penalty.

-- Pakistan Approves Legal Mechanism to Facilitate Barter Trade With Iran

The Pakistani cabinet’s Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on Thursday approved amendments to the country’s Export Policy Order (EXPO) 2020 and Import Policy Order (IMPO) 2020 to regulate swap trade arrangements with Iran as well as Afghanistan.
Pakistani media reported that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) have supported the amendments, which were proposed to the Committee by the country’s Ministry of Commerce and pursued by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

-- Iran Seeks Hungarian Help to Repatriate Citizens in Ukraine

Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir-Abdollahian on Friday called for the Hungarian government’s assistance in the process of returning Iranian citizens from Ukraine through Hungary’s soil.
Amir-Abdollahian made the request in a phone conversation with his Hungarian counterpart Peter Szijjarto.
“Iranian citizens, including students, families of diplomats, and other Iranians living in Ukraine, want to enter the Polish and Hungarian borders to return to Iran,” he said.
