Iran's President Raisi to defend nominated ministers on Aug 21

Tehran, IRNA- Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi will defend his nominated ministers in Majlis (parliament) on August 21, the spokesman for Iran’s Majlis Presiding Board Nezam Mousavi said on Tuesday.

Earlier, Raisi has submitted the list of people nominated to take ministerial posts to Majlis (the Iranian Parliament) for the vote of confidence.

The list of proposed ministers are as follows:

Javad Owji, Oil Minister

Ahmad Vahidi, Minister of Interior

Ehsan Khandouzi, Economic Affairs and Finance Minister

Esmaeil Khatib, Intelligence Minister

Mohammad Mahdi Esmaeili, Culture and Islamic Guidance Minister

Javad Sadatinejad, Agriculture Jihad Minister

Ezzatollah Zarghami, Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Minister

Hamid Sajjadi, Sports and Youth Minister

Reza Fatemi Amin, Industry, Mine and Trade Minister

Ami Hossein Rahimi, Justice Minister

Ali Akbar Mehrabian, Energy Minister

Hossein Amir Abdollahian, Foreign Minister

Hossein Bagh-goli, Education Minister

Hojjat Abdol-Maleki, Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare Minister

Bahram Eynollahi, Health Minister

Rostam Qasemi, Roads and Urban Development Minister

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi took the oath of office before parliament in the presence of the Judiciary chief and members of the Expediency Council and foreign guests in Tehran on Thursday, August 5.

The swearing-in of the president in Iran is based on Article 121 of the constitution.

On Friday, June 18, the 13th presidential election was held simultaneous with the sixth round of city and village councils elections, the first mid-term for the 11th parliament’s by-election, and the second mid-term for the fifth Assembly of Experts election.

Out of over 59.3 million eligible voters, nearly 29 million took part in the 13th presidential election on June 18, 2021. Ebrahim Raisi won the presidential race with over 18 million votes out of nearly 29 million ballots, which shows a 48.8 percent turnout.
