Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei issued a statement in mid February on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of victory of the Islamic Revolution.
'Among all the nations suffering from oppression, few make an effort to launch a revolution; and among those nations that have risen and launched a revolution, few have been witnessed to have pursued it to the end, or moved beyond merely changing the government and safeguarded their revolutionary values,” the statement said.
The two-day meeting is to also discuss the people’s living conditions, spokesman for the Assembly’s presiding board Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami said at a press conference held in Qom, west of Tehran, last week.
Another topic which is to be reviewed in the meeting is the election of the first vice-chairman for the Assembly of Experts as a substitute for Ayatollah Mahmoud Shahroudi who passed away in December, 2018.
The Assembly of Experts is an influential body in charge of designating and dismissing the Supreme Leader. It has 88 members and holds two meetings annually.
