'More than 65 percent of energy producers in Iran are in private sector and will have a lion's share in implementation of the MoU,' said Ardakanian in a joint press conference with Iraq's Minister of Electricity Luay Al Khateeb after inking a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with his host on Thursday for joint energy cooperation.
Ardakanian said he had also discussions with Iraqi Minister of Construction and Housing Bangen Rekani for water and sewage treatment cooperation and, private sector can have active presence in the field as well.
To a question to what extent electricity and gas were exported to Iraq, Al Khateeb said overall, up to 4,000 megawatts per hour electricity is purchased from Iran.
He said the amount fluctuates in different seasons as it reaches its climax in the hot season.
He noted that the prospect of Iran-Iraq energy relations are promising.
