Travelling on 24 SUV cars, the French tourists are to visit tourist attractions in different cities of Iran during their 20-day stay in the country.
Ali Eslam, one of the local officials in charge of the provincial tourist attractions, told IRNA on Thursday that the French tourists are to visit historical sites of the city of Chaldoran in north of the province as well as the Qara Kelisa.
Qara Kelisa’ which literally means as the ‘Black Church’ is one of the oldest and the most famous surviving Christian monuments in Iran nestled atop a mountain ridge. The church is basically an ancient Armenian monastery, which was built on the memories of one of the 12 apostles, ‘St. Thaddeus’.
The official added that this is the fourth group of French tourists that has come to visit Iran's tourist attractions.
They are to visit tourist sites and monuments in western and northern parts of Iran including those in the East Azarbaijan and West Azarbaijan provinces and also in Zanjan, Yazd, Isfahan, Tehran, Khorassan Razavi and Mazandaran.
