Upon the agreement, the Chinese company would build a 1600 megawatt power plant in four phases in Maku Free Trade and Industrial Zone.
Investments by the company at the end of the fourth phase will amount to 1600 million dollars, but it will invest 500 million dollars in the first and second phases of the power plant.
At the first phase, the power plant will produce 120 megawatts of electricity and in the second phase 500 megawatts, which would be consumed by the industrial units of the zone.
In signing ceremony on Sunday evening, representative of AVIC company Gia Leemin said that in order to create and expand trade and industrial cooperation with Iran and Maku Free Trade Zone, his company is interested to invest in the energy and mining sectors there.
On the sidelines of signing ceremony, Managing Director of Maku Free Trade and Industrial Zone Hossein Forouzan told IRNA that building the power plant simultaneousl with completion of Maku Airport, would be one of the most important infra-structures of the region.
He underlined that by commissioning the power plant more than 15,000 job opportunities would be created directly or indirectly.
Maku free zone located in 500,000 hectares of land in north of West Azarbaijan Province is the largest free zone in the country.
