The delegation visited two plants located in the southwestern Khuzestan province, the hub of sugarcane production in Iran. The visit took place on Sunday, according to an IRNA report the same day, citing the Sugarcane and Byproducts Development Company, the holding company of the two plants and four others all active in Khuzestan.
The Cuban delegation described achievements in Iran’s sugarcane industry as significant and outstanding and called for using the Iranian companies’ experience and knowledge in this regard.
The delegates also praised the Iranian companies for producing products which they described as an environmental achievement due to their features protecting the environment.
The delegates explained that Cuba’s sugarcane industry has faced setbacks over the past seven decades partly because of US sanctions against the Latin American country, which have forced the closure of nearly half of Cuban companies.
The head of the delegation said that cooperation with Iranian sugarcane production companies will open a new chapter in collaboration between the two countries which are both hit by US sanctions.
