The university achieved the prestigious rank after 18 years.
Sharif University team ranked first in the western Asian universities and surpassed science giants like University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, Harvard University, Stanford University, St. Petersburg ITMO University, Princeton University, and Columbia University.
Sharif University team consisted of Mohammad-Mahdi Shokri, Parsa Mirtaheri, and Ali Bahjati.
According to the official website of the event, the International Collegiate Programming Contest is an algorithmic programming contest for college students. Teams of three, representing their university, work to solve the most real-world problems, fostering collaboration, creativity, innovation, and the ability to perform under pressure. Through training and competition, teams challenge each other to raise the bar on the possible. Quite simply, it is the oldest, largest, and most prestigious programming contest in the world.
The final round of the competitions started on March 31 and went on for six days. 135 teams had been chosen from among more than 17,000 teams from 3,200 universities in regional competitions.'
The regional competitions of the event for western Asia have almost always been held in Sharif University of Technology since 20 years ago.
