Tehran, IRNA - The Israeli regime’s army has announced the death of a commander during fighting in the northern Gaza Strip.

According to Palestine’s Shehab News Agency, the regime’s army declared in a statement late on Saturday that Sergeant Zamir Burke was killed in ground battles in the Jabalia refugee camp.

The soldier was a squad commander in the 601st Combat Engineering Battalion, Israeli media said, adding that he was killed on Friday.

The regime’s media outlets also reported that one Israeli trooper had been killed and two others injured in Gaza on Saturday.

According to those reports, 39 troops and settlers were killed in fighting in Gaza and Lebanon through November. In the meantime, the Israeli Army Radio said that at least 800 soldiers have been killed in Gaza and Lebanon since the start of the regime's aggression on both regions in early October last year. It said the majority of the soldiers were killed in Gaza.

Israel's war has also left at least 44,382 people dead and 105,142 others injured in Gaza, according to the latest figures announced by the Palestinian Health Ministry.

Despite the high number of casualties, the regime has not achieved its stated goals of annihilating Hamas resistance movement and releasing captives held in Gaza.
