Lahore, IRNA -- Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan says assassination of Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani, the commander of the Qods Force, was oppression against Islam adding that the blood of this great martyr brought dignity and honor to Muslims around the world.

Siraj-ul-Haq expressed these views in an interview with IRNA on the sidelines of a meeting with the Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought Hojjatoleslam Shahriari in Lahore.

He stressed that the tragedy of the assassination of General Soleimani in the territory of an Islamic country is an aggression of foreign forces, which we condemn and emphasize the support to oppressed Muslim nations.

Siraj-ul-Haq stated that the enemies have taken advantage of the chaos among the Islamic nations and we see the result of these conspiracies in events such as the assassination of the commander of the Qods Force.

He stressed, "We need unity and solidarity to prevent terrorist operations and unilateral actions and we must stand by the oppressed."

IRGC Qods force commander Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani and the Deputy Commander of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), known as Hash al-Shaabi, Abu Mahdi Al-Mohandes were martyred by the US in targeted airstrike against their motorcade in Baghdad airport on 3 January 2020.

As a result of this White House terrorist act, the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps fired several ballistic missiles at the US base of Ain al-Assad in Iraq's Al-Anbar Province which was a big hit to the American forces.

Less than two weeks after the US terrorist operation, a nine-member delegation of the Pakistan National Solidarity Council, chaired by Liaqat Baloch, Secretary General and Vice President of the Jamaat-e-Islami, went to Iran to offer condolences to the Iranian people and the family of martyr Soleimani.

The leader of the Jamaat-e-Islami of Pakistan yesterday in a meeting with Hojjatoleslam Shahriari mentioned the influential role of Tehran and Islamabad in helping solve the problems of the Islamic world and regional crisis, especially the situation in Afghanistan.

In an interview with IRNA, Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought said that the meeting focused on the commonalities of the two neighboring countries and some of the problems facing the Islamic world, especially the issue of Palestine.
