Ahmad Amirabadi Farahani and members of Iranian parliamentary delegation continued their official meetings in Islamabad on Monday and exchanged views on security developments in the region.
Deputy Speaker of the Pakistan National Assembly Parliament expressed satisfaction with the second visit of the delegation of the Iran-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group to Pakistan.
Qasim Khan Suri said that Pakistan and Iran are brotherly Islamic countries which have brotherly ties based upon religion, Islamic fraternity, culture, history and neighborhood. He said that enhancing ties between both the countries is imperative for regional development and prosperity.
Deputy Speaker has stressed the need for regular exchange of parliamentary delegation between the two countries. He was of the view that the parliamentarians could play an important role in strengthening the existing bilateral relations.
He also emphasized to enhance cooperation in the fields of trade commerce and energy for the mutual benefit of both states.
The deputy speaker remarked that trade activities across the Pakistan-Iran border need special focus as it would increase the trade volume between both countries exponentially. He said that Incumbent government is striving to have friendly relations with all its neighboring countries, including Iran.
He also mentioned that unity among Muslim countries is imperative to resolve the issues faced by Muslim Ummah across the world. He said that in this context Parliamentary diplomacy and people to people contacts could play an important role between two countries.
The deputy speaker was confident that the recent visit of Iranian parliamentary delegation would prove milestone in fostering bilateral parliamentary ties between the two countries and explore new avenues for enhancing cooperation and understanding between the legislative institution of Pakistan and Iran.
During the meeting, head of Iranian parliamentary delegation expressed his condolences for the human losses caused by the recent earthquake in Balochistan, as well as the death of the nuclear father of this country.
Emphasizing the need for unity of the Islamic world and referring to the vision of the Islamic Republic of Iran for cohesion and unity among Muslims beyond differences, he added from 12th to the 17th of Rabi al-Awal has been declared as the Week of Unity.
Amirabadi Farahani added arrogant powers, including the United States and the Zionist regime, are powerless against the unity of Muslims, but any differences and divisions will cause the success of the enemies and global arrogance to strike at the Islamic world.
He said the Islamic Republic of Iran has unequivocally supported the oppressed nations of the world, especially the Muslims from Yemen, Iraq, Yemen, Palestine to Kashmir, and we see that this strategy of Iran and the defense of Muslims has caused the powers to conspire against Islam.
The head of the Iran-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group in the parliament criticized the West's discriminatory attitude towards Iran and the oppressive policy of unilateral sanctions, saying we expect friendly countries like Pakistan to take practical steps to overcome sanctions and move towards easy trade.
He added the Americans are beating the drums of confrontation, and on the other hand, the Zionist regime is seeking to incite war and sow the seeds of hypocrisy and division among Muslims.
Amirabadi Farahani emphasized the population of 300 million in Iran and Pakistan is a great capacity for these two neighbors to ensure common interests and self-sufficiency in many areas.
At the end of the meeting, Ali Nikzad, the deputy speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, invited Qasim Suri to visit Iran, especially the holy places, including Mashad and Qom, which was welcomed by the Pakistani side.
