Hur-ul-Azim super wetland
Hur-ul-Azim super wetland is one of the largest of its kind in Iran which is located in the southwestern province of Khuzestan near the border with Iraq. It covers an area of 120,000 hectares and is considered a rich source of plant and animal species, including one of the world’s most rare otters. Water flows into the wetland from Karkheh River in Iran and Tigris in Iraq.

Persian fallow deer
The Persian fallow deer’s natural habitat is the dense forests of the Zagros region and areas in southwestern Iranian province of Khuzestan. The unique animal species has been living across the Mesopotamia region for centuries. It was thought to be extinct in Iran until 1951 when the animal was seen in Dez and Karkheh National Parks in Khuzestan.
