Abadan, IRNA – The remains of the bodies of 98 Iranian martyrs of Iraq’s imposed war on Iran (1980-88) were transported to the country through the Shalamcheh International Border Crossing in southwest Iran on Saturday.
The bodies of 34 martyrs of Iran’s Sacred Defense, which marks the eight-year war with Iraq’s former Baath regime in the 1980s, were returned to the country on Monday, February 19. The bodies were recently discovered in Iraq, and were returned to Iran through Shalamcheh border crossing, where war veterans and groups of people from the nearby cities of Abadan and Khorramshahr were present.
