Tehran, IRNA – An Iranian official has said that the Islamic Republic’s options against the Israeli regime are broad.

Iran is not after war, but it is ready for [defending the country during] an imposed war, the official told Al Jazeera anonymously on Monday evening.

For the second-level response, Iran will use weapons that have not already been used against the Israeli regime, the source added.

The Zionist regime should know that its bullying and madly-taken behavior towards Iran will not work, the Arab news network quoted the official as saying.

On April 13, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) fired dozens of drones and missiles toward the positions of the Zionist regime in the occupied Palestinian territories. The firing took place in response to the Israeli attack against Iran’s consulate in Damascus, Syria, a few days earlier.

“This action was in the exercise of Iran's inherent right to self-defense as outlined in Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, and in response to the Israeli recurring military aggressions, particularly its armed attack on 1st April 2024 against Iranian diplomatic premises, in the defiance of Article 2 (4) of the Charter of the United Nations,” Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic to the United Nations (UN) Amir-Saeid Iravani said through a letter sent to the UN chief the same day.

A day later, Iran’s Permanent Mission to the UN, on its X account, said the Israeli regime needed to be punished to restore order.
