In response to a telephone call from Yemen's Supreme Political Council chairman Mahdi Al-Mashat on Tuesday, Raisi said that the heroic Yemeni nation's standing by the Palestinians will certainly be effective in deterring the crimes of the Zionist regime.
Yemeni supportive measures, along with valuable actions such as magnificent marches, the explicit declaration of stances in support of the oppressed Palestinians, as well as the attempt to cut off the economic arteries of the criminal Zionist regime is the source of pride for the Islamic Ummah, he added.
Referring to the hypocritical behavior of Western countries towards the criminal actions of the regime, Raisi termed the US and Western pro-Zionist countries as the biggest human rights violators in the world.
The silence and inaction of these countries and international organizations in the reaction to over six months of horrific crimes and genocide in Gaza has encouraged the Zionist regime to commit more crimes and mount regional tensions, he further noted.
The expansion of mutual ties will benefit the two nations and Islamic world, he underlined.
For his part, Al-Mashat reacted to the punitive act of the Islamic Republic against the Israeli regime which took place in response to the regime’s attack on the Iranian embassy in Syria, noting that the courageous act of punishing the enemy who does not live up to any international law and understands nothing but the language of force has been taken from the teachings of Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Revolution.
The Resistance Front which is a united front always adheres to the fight against the Zionist regime and keeps advocating (the stances of) the Islamic Republic, he further noted.
On April 13, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) fired dozens of drones and missiles toward the positions of the Zionist regime in the occupied Palestinian territories. The firing took place in response to the Israeli attack against Iran’s consulate in Damascus, Syria, a few days earlier.
“This action was in the exercise of Iran's inherent right to self-defense as outlined in Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, and in response to the Israeli recurring military aggressions, particularly its armed attack on 1st April 2024 against Iranian diplomatic premises, in the defiance of Article 2 (4) of the Charter of the United Nations,” Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic to the United Nations (UN) Amir-Saeid Iravani said through a letter sent to the UN chief the same day.
