Tehran, IRNA – Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Akbar Ahmadian met and held talks with top security officials from Russia and China in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Ahmadian, who has traveled to Astana at the head of a high-ranking delegation to participate in the meeting of secretaries of the Security Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), met and held talks with Russian Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev and Minister of Public Security of the People's Republic of China Wang Xiaohong on Thursday.

While expressing sympathy for the martyrdom of a number of Iranian advisers in Syria, Patrushev strongly condemned the Israeli attack on the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus.

The two sides discussed mutual issues of interest such as the joint fight against terrorism, the contribution of the two countries' national security councils to accelerate various projects in progress, including the North-South Corridor, assisting the Syrian government to further consolidate its sovereignty over its territory, and other issues of mutual, regional and international interest.

Also, in a meeting with Wang Xiaohong, the two sides discussed ways to better implement the 25-year strategic document between the two countries.

Describing the ties between Iran and China as strategic with common goals, aspirations, and threats, Xiaohong emphasized strengthening the two countries' cooperation in the bilateral regional and international arenas, especially the more efficient use of the SCO's capacities.
