Zelensky on Wednesday, during his first trip outside of Ukraine since the ongoing war began in his country in February, repeated accusations of drone deliveries by Iran to Russia for use in the Ukraine war.
He accused Iran of being “an ally” in Russia’s “genocidal policy”, saying “Iranian deadly drones sent to Russia in hundreds and hundreds became a threat to our critical infrastructure.”
The Iranian spokesman said that the Islamic Republic has previously responded to the “baseless accusations” by Ukrainian officials.
Kanaani said that Iran once again emphasizes that it has supplied no military equipment to any party for use in the Ukraine war.
“We have always respected the territorial integrity of countries including Ukraine. Mr. Zelensky should realize that Iran’s strategic patience will not be unlimited towards unfounded accusations,” the spokesman said.
He added that the Ukrainian president is better to take clues from the fate of some world leaders who had been pleased with US support.
Iranian officials have admitted supplying drones to Russia, but they have stressed that the move was part of a defense cooperation between Tehran and Moscow, and that the aircraft had been sent before the Ukraine war began.
