Tehran, IRNA - Commander of Islamic Republic of Iran Navy Rear Admiral Shahram Irani said on Sunday that extraregional forces show regional states weaker and are unable of providing their security.

Speaking in a conference attended by Iran and Pakistan military academics and students, Admiral Irani said that the waters have a 90-percent share in global trade, adding that waters is effective in every aspects of coastal countries’ peoples.

He said that Iran and Pakistan need a navy in proportion to their geopolitical weight as the two are considered maritime countries.

Undoubtedly, no country can provide the security of the expanse of all waters alone, he noted, adding that countries in the region should leverage their commonalities to the most.
