Islamabad, IRNA -- Executive Director Development Communications Network (DEVCOM-Pakistan) says that membership of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has strengthened the front against Western influence in the region, especially US hegemony.

In an exclusive interview with IRNA in Islamabad Munir Ahmad said that strengthening Tehran's position in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is a win-win deal for all the parties.

He added that Western influence in the region, especially the US hegemonic approach, is a common issue faced by Iran and other members of the SCO, especially China and Russia as the main founders of this organization; but with the recent development, the front has become stronger.

The Pakistani researcher believes that the infiltration of extra-regional powers, including the US and the Zionist regime, against the stability of the region, is a warning signal that the SCO member states should be aware of.

He said Iran's membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will help the parties to play an effective role in achieving common goals in the region, and in return, the Islamic Republic can accelerate the process of improving domestic livelihood and economic relations with other countries from this strong regional capacity.

Munir Ahmad that said the theory of Iran's isolation failed again with the country's membership in the SCO and at this stage, Tehran, along with Beijing and Moscow, is effectively helping to turn the Shanghai Cooperation Organization into a powerful regional power.

He said the diplomacy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to reduce US influence and counter its unilateral sanctions.

Executive Director of DEVCOM went on to say the SCO leaders' joint vision to help bring peace in Afghanistan and using Pakistan's influence on the Taliban is an ideal opportunity for Iran and other regional partners to bring peace and stability in Afghanistan.
