Islamabad, May 31, IRNA -- Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf would virtually participate in the second General Conference of the Parliamentary Assembly of Economic Cooperation Organization (PAECO) on June 1-June 2, 2021 in Islamabad.

According to an official statement, Speakers of Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan will attend the summit hosted by the Pakistani Parliament.

“Whereas, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, Gulshat Mammedova Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and Dr. Hadi Soleimanpour Secretary General of ECO would virtually participate in the meeting,” it added.

It said the inaugural ceremony of the Conference would be participated by Dr. Arif Alvi President Islamic Republic of Pakistan on 1st June 2021.

Speakers/ Heads of delegations of Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Pakistan would deliver key note addresses on the occasion.

Dr. Hadi Soleimanpour, the Iranian Secretary General of ECO, will also speak at the opening and closing sessions of the program.

Parliamentary delegations of ECO member countries in this 2-day meeting would speak on the role of women in advancing the regional communication agenda, the effects of climate change on women and the positive actions of regional parliaments, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on achieving sustainable development goals in the region and facilitating transit trade.

The first meeting of the Speakers of the ECO Member States was held on February 11, 2013, hosted by the Parliament of Pakistan, and Ali Larijani the then Iranian Parliament Speaker attended the meeting.
