Tehran, April 21, IRNA – The D-8 International University will be inaugurated in Bu-Ali Sina University, Hamedan province, western Iran next week, deputy for Minister of Science and Research for international affairs Hossein Salar Amoli said.

Speaking to IRNA, Amoli said the statute of the university will be officially confirmed by D-8 ministers in Tehran and then the International University will be inaugurated.

Referring to university plan to attract students in all levels, he said in the first step the students will be accepted for bachelor’s degree.

He added that agriculture, science and technology, health and telecommunications courses will be offered in D-8 International University.

Emphasizing the fact that D-8 have been established among Iran, Egypt, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Pakistan, Turkey, Nigeria and Indonesi, Salar Amoli said cooperation in science and technology is regarded as a criterion for developing relation among member states.

Earlier in an exclusive interview with IRNA, Secretary General of D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation Dato' Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari praised Iran's partnership in the organization.

Commenting on the reason behind establishing D8 organization, Ku Shaari said “On 15th of June, 1997 the D8 Organization for economic cooperation was established. The idea initiative comes from the [Former] Prime Minister of Turkey Necmettin Erbakan it begins with the first conference talking about economic development.”

“The D8 objective was to look at the sustainable economic development within the standard of living of the citizens of all member states looking at social areas of collaboration with a number of principles,” he added.
