Torch-carrying ritual in Iran's Qom

Every year, on the 8th and 9th nights of the Islamic calendar month of Muharram, people originally from Iraq's city of Najaf who reside in the Iranian holy city of Qom walk and mourn alongside their traditional torches and drums from the Najafis Mosque and Hussainiya in Gozar Khan Bazaar to the Shrine of Hazrat Fatima Masoumeh(AS). Torch-carrying ritual held in Tehran's Dolat Abad

The torch-carrying ritual of people from Iraq's Najaf and Karbala residing in Tehran was held on Tuesday night (July 25, 2023) in the neighborhood of Iraqis, located in Dolat Abad, Shahr-e-Rey, southern Tehran. The torches carried in this ceremony are a symbol of the torches that set fire to the tent of Imam Hussein (AS), the third Shia Imam and the grandson of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), in the afternoon of Ashura.
