Miqan desert wetland, 17 km northeast of Arak, is among the ten most important wetlands in Iran with a diverse wildlife and desert nature. This wetland is considered one of the most important seasonal habitats for migratory birds due to its suitable weather conditions. Miqan wetland has special ecological features and hosts a large number of migratory birds every year, among which some rare and protected species can be seen. Due to the large population of cranes in the wetland compared to other habitats in the country, the wetland has attracted the attention of environmentalists. More than 16% of the country’s birds live in this wetland, and some species of migratory and native birds in this area are rare and invaluable, and their large numbers during the migration is a tourist attraction.
