The 4,500-year-old Kharaanaq Castle has been registered as a national heritage. It was built to protect people of the village from constant attacks by bandits and thieves. The historical castle has 80 houses, 6 watchtowers, and four gates, and is one of the few castles in the world with two and three-story buildings.
