Tehran, IRNA – In response to congratulatory messages and phone calls from heads of state and other officials from more than 40 world countries, Iran’s president-elect Masoud Pezeshkian has said that engagement with the world and opening new horizons will be a priority for his foreign policy.

Pezeshkian said that he would seek friendly relations with other governments across the globe based on dialogue, cooperation, equality, and mutual respect.

Pezeshkian defeated his rival Saeed Jalili in Iran’s presidential runoff July 5, 2024, to replace the late President Ebrahim Raisi who lost his life in a helicopter crash in May.
