Tehran, IRNA - The deputy of human rights and international affairs of the Ministry of Justice and the head of the convict transfer committee said that during last Iranian year 143 prisoners were transferred to the country and 291 prisoners of foreign nationals were returned to their countries.

In an interview on Wednesday, Askar Jalalian stated that some of these agreements have become law and some are on the way to become law, adding, "We hope that the legislative process in this field will be accelerated."

He continued that a number of convicted foreign nationals, including from Afghanistan, Turkey, India, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Iraq and Armenia, were returned to their countries within the framework of judicial legal agreements.
