A senior Hamas official told Al Jazeera on Saturday that Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh has been in touch with mediators to resume negotiations in Cairo.
Haniyeh has told the mediators that negotiations must address a permanent ceasefire, the complete withdrawal of Israeli occupiers from Gaza and the unconditional return of refugees to their homes.
The talks in Cairo will be headed by senior Hamas official Khalil al-Hayya, who is a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council.
The US and Israeli negotiators are also expected in the Egyptian capital over the weekend for talks with Hamas.
Palestinians officials have said the Israeli regime has shown no real interest in negotiating an agreement that would end the war which has killed more than 33,000 Palestinians in six months.
