Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Foeign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani says there is an urgent need for an international investigation into the atrocities committed by the Israeli regime in and around al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza.

In a tweet on Monday, Kanaani said the pictures and videos coming out of al-Shifa Hospital after a two-week siege by the Zionist regime’s army, as well as the words of eye-witnesses, the reports of the level of destruction, torture, and killing, and the number of Palestinian detainees in the hospital are horrifying.

“An international investigation is urgently needed,” he wrote. “Will international organizations and institutions do their duty?”

He went on: “Will the well-known self-styled human rights advocates support the international investigation regarding the dimensions of this blatant war crime, or will the selective and discriminatory behavior regarding human rights continue?”

The remarks came after the occupying regime withdrew its troops and tanks from al-Shifa Hospital two weeks after the start of their siege of the medical center.

Following the withdrawal, Palestinian media reported that dozens of bodies were found in the vicinity of the hospital.

Meanwhile, the Zionist regime’s Army Radio admitted on Monday that the regime’s army killed more than 200 Palestinians during the two-week siege of al-Shifa Hospital and detained 900 others.

The Tel Aviv regime waged the genocidal war on Gaza on October 7 after Palestinian resistance movements in the strip carried out a retaliatory operation against the regime over its intensified violence against Palestinians.

At least 32,782 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed by Israeli offensives in Gaza so far.
