Tehran, IRNA – A research and policy institute in Israel known as the Center for Internal Security Studies in its recent report suggests that the majority of people in Saudi Arabia prefer the immediate termination of Arab countries' relations with this regime.

Lebanon’s al-Mayadeen news network published the report from this center on Wednesday night, highlighted a clear gap between the positions of the Al Saud government and the nation.

Enmity with Israel and hatred of the idea of establishing relations with it is rooted among Saudis, the report said, adding that 96% of those surveyed said there should be no ties with Israel citing the regime’s behavior in Gaza.

This research center found that public sentiments in Saudi Arabia has changed gradually and even before the war, 87% Saudis believed that Israel would ultimately be defeated.

In the end, the Center concluded its report by saying that Saudi Arabia is facing the silent but great opposition regarding any potential normalization deal with the Israeli regime.

Saudi Arabia has, for now, postponed talks on any such deal amid the Israeli onslaught against the besieged Gaza Strip.

Washington’s efforts for adding Saudi Arabia to the list of Arab countries that have signed the Abraham Accords also came at a critical time when US President Joe Biden is seeking re-election and the US government has been left embarrassed by the kingdom’s bolstering of ties with Iran and Syria, and its further gravitation toward China.

The UAE, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco signed US-brokered normalization agreements with Israel in 2020, drawing condemnations from Palestinians who slammed the deals as “a stab in the back of the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people.”
