Zahedan, IRNA – The Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) has announced the conclusion of the relief operations in nearly 890 villages hit by severe floods in the southeastern province of Sistan-and-Baluchistan.

The IRCS made the announcement in a statement issued on Saturday, detailing the relief operations since February 26 when floods hit the southern parts of the province.

According to the statement, the relief operations have now been concluded in 889 villages in Sistan-and-Baluchistan.

It also said that more than 17,000 families making up nearly 70,950 people, who were affected by the floods, have received aid.

Dozens of food consignments and nearly 2,000 food packages have been distributed by the IRCS’s helicopters in hard-to-access villages, the statement said.

In addition to food and water being supplied to the flood-hit areas, thousands of pieces of moquette and blankets have been distributed as well.

IRCS members from other five other Iranian provinces have assisted in the relief operations in Sistan-and-Baluchistan, the statement said.
