Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has departed from here for the Saudi port city of Jeddah on Tuesday to participate in the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) extraordinary meeting on Gaza.

Amirabdollahian was seen off by Saudi Ambassador to Iran Abdullah bin Saud al-Anzi.

The OIC foreign ministerial meeting, scheduled for March 5 in Jeddah, aims to review the situation in Gaza.

The OIC, which comprises 57 member states, has its secretariat based in Jeddah.

On February 26, the OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha orally pleaded for cessation of crimes by the Israeli regime in Gaza.

Additionally, on October 18, 2023, just 11 days after the start of the war in Gaza, the OIC convened an emergency meeting in Jeddah to discuss developments in the Strip.

Tragically, the death toll in Gaza has now surpassed 30,000, with a majority of the victims being women and children.
