Tehran, IRNA – President Ebrahim Raisi has said that Iran and Uzbekistan can increase their annual trade to $1 billion, stressing that the goal is within reach thanks to the numerous capacities the two countries have.

He made the remarks on Sunday in a meeting with Uzbekistan’s new ambassador to Tehran Fariddin Nasriyev who submitted his credentials to the Iranian president.

Raisi said that the leaders of both Iran and Uzbekistan are determined to boost bilateral relations.

The Uzbek ambassador, for his part, said that Iran is a reliable partner for his country.

Emphasizing Uzbekistan’s willingness to expand relations with Iran in all areas, Ambassador Nasriyev said that he will pursue the issue during his diplomatic mission in Tehran.
