Tehran, IRNA – China’s President Xi Jinping has condemned the terrorist attacks in Iran’s southeastern city of Kerman and expressed the sympathy of the Chinese people and government to the Iranian nation.

In a message sent to his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi on Thursday, President Xi extended his condolences over the attacks.

Xi said he was shocked to learn that serious terror attacks have taken place in Kerman where heavy casualties were caused, Xinhua reported.

“On behalf of the Chinese government and people, Xi expressed deep condolences to the victims and sincere sympathy to the injured and the bereaved families,” the Chinese news agency said.

A spokesman of the Chinese foreign ministry already denounced the Kerman attacks as well, saying that Beijing opposes all forms of terrorism and firmly supports Iran's efforts in safeguarding its national security and stability.

According to Iran's Health Ministry, 84 people lost their lives and 284 others were injured in the terror attack.
