Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s new Ambassador to Malaysia Valiollah Mohammadi-Nasrabadi has met with Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian prior to beginning his tenure in the Islamic country.

In the meeting, Amirabdollahian spoke about the important position Malaysia has in the World of Islam and in the East Asia region, the IRNA reported on Sunday.

The top diplomat called on Mohammadi-Nasrabadi to make efforts to help expand Tehran’s ties with Kuala Lumpur in the areas of tourism, health, culture, agriculture, science, economy and technology.

Referring to the presence of Iranian nationals in Malaysia, the foreign minister stressed the importance of providing them with proper consular services.

Mohammadi-Nasrabadi has already acted as Iran’s chargé d'affaires in South Africa and country's ambassador to Indonesia, Ghana and Togo.

He also served in Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and held several responsibilities in the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
