Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi has called a recent UN General Assembly resolution on the Gaza war a key achievement, saying that a meeting by the heads of states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is another step which should be taken to bring an end to the Israeli crimes against Palestinians.

Raisi made the comments on Sunday during a cabinet meeting.

He said that the UN General Assembly resolution, which condemned the Zionist regime’s crimes despite threats by the arrogant powers, was a key achievement, adding that all Muslims should support Palestinians.

The president stressed that efforts should also be made in order for the OIC heads of states to meet as part of steps aimed at ending the regime’s crimes.

He also hailed Palestinian resistance forces for creating a “big epic” after they repelled a ground attack by the regime on Saturday. Raisi described it as the second largest defeat for the Zionist regime since the war began on October 7.

Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian meanwhile briefed the cabinet members on the measures the Islamic Republic has taken to bring an end to the Israeli crimes as soon as possible.

He also talked about the situation in the Gaza Strip, and said that the Zionist regime has suffered heavy defeat and losses in its latest attempt for incursion into the territory.

If the situation goes on in that way, Gaza will turn into a quagmire for Zionist forces, Amirabdollahian said, citing an assessment by resistance leaders.
