- UN, Iran rally forces against sandstorms

Countries in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia must work together to combat sand and dust storms made increasingly severe by climate change, the United Nations and Iran said Saturday. “Cooperation is key. I urge you to use your time in Tehran to build partnerships, increase cooperation, and commit to practical action,” UN chief Antonio Guterres said in a video broadcast to representatives of around 50 states and 15 organizations, according to AFP. Opening the International Conference on Combating Sand and Dust Storms, Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi called on countries in the region to create “a fund” to pursue common solutions.

- Raisi to Pashinyan: Any geographic change in region a red line

Assuring Armenia of Iran’s opposition to any alteration to regional boundaries, President Ebrahim Raisi said Iran is prepared to play “an effective role” as a “powerful neighbor” to prevent regional clashes or geopolitical changes. After being briefed by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan about the latest developments in the Caucasus, Raisi reaffirmed Iran’s support for the territorial integrity of all regional states, according to Tasnim news agency.

- Gold rush on final day as Iran lifts girls trophy, finishes boys runner-up

A medal-laden campaign at the Asian Cadet Taekwondo Championships saw Iran claim the girls’ title while settling for the runner-up spot in the boys’ event in Beirut, Lebanon. On Friday, five Iranians brought the curtain down on a glorious run for the country in the Lebanese capital by capturing the ultimate prize of their respective classes. It was a head-to-head battle between Iran and South Korea in the girls’ competitions on the final day as all three showdowns were contested by the athletes from the two continental powerhouses.

- Iran closely watching South Caucasus region

The situation in the South Caucasus region is quickly deteriorating, with Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan continuing to build up troops along the line of contact in the region.  Iran has made it clear that it’s closely watching the situation and won’t accept any geopolitical changes on its doorstep.  Over the last few days, the authorities of Baku and Yerevan traded accusations of trying to initiate new major military escalations. Videos and photos circulating on social media indicated that the accusations may be rooted in reality as both countries have moved to reinforce their troops along the border.

- Israeli troops forced Palestinian women to undress

An investigation has found that Israeli troops forced five Palestinian women to completely undress in front of their children while attacking them using army dogs. The chilling revelation that occurred during a night raid on a family home on July 10 was made after a probe by the rights group, B’Tselem, and reports by Israeli media.  The rights group said that scores of Israeli troops and army dogs broke into the home of a Palestinian family in the occupied West Bank city of al-Khalil, also known as Hebron.

- Iranian oppositionists showing their true colors

Several Iranian oppositionists, who are known as active campaigners against the sovereignty and integrity of Iran, met with Israel’s intelligence minister on Wednesday in a bid to find a new patron. The group of media workers from different TV outlets, Iran International, BBC Persian, Iran-e Farda, and Voice of America, met with Gila Gamliel in London. Gamliel who is a widely unpopular figure back in Israel assured the group of Iranians that Tel Aviv would continue to support anti-Iran media outlets.

- Quake kills over 1,000 people in Morocco

Rescuers dug through rubble for survivors in collapsed houses in remote mountain villages of Morocco on Saturday, in the wake of the country’s deadliest earthquake for more than six decades, which killed more than 1,000 people. The quake which struck in Morocco’s High Atlas mountains late on Friday night damaged historic buildings in Marrakech - the nearest city to the epicenter - while the most of the fatalities were reported in mountainous areas to the south.

- Court papers confirm U.S. stealing of Iranian oil

Newly unsealed court papers publicly confirm the U.S. government has stolen nearly one million barrels of Iranian crude oil from the M/T Suez Rajan tanker. The seizure is at the center of a shadowy conflict playing out in the world’s ocean shipping corridors as the U.S. seeks to use economic sanctions to block Iran from exporting oil. The U.S. and its allies have been stealing Iranian oil cargoes since withdrawing from the nuclear deal known as the JCPOA and reimposing sanctions on Iran in 2018.

- Iran’s redline, opposition to drills outside 3+3

President Ebrahim Raisi said Saturday Iran is ready to play an effective role in preventing new clashes and any geopolitical change in the South Caucasus region. In a phone conversation with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the president said Iran, as a powerful neighbor of both Armenia and Azerbaijan, strongly opposes any new tension in the region. Raisi reiterated Iran’s support for territorial integrity of all the countries in the region, expressing Tehran’s preparedness to help solve regional issues through “diplomatic” dialogue.
