-- Raeisi: Tehran will spend $6b ‘wherever we need’
Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi said his government will decide how it will spend $6 billion in previously frozen funds due to be released in a prisoner exchange agreement with the United States, stressing that the money will be spent “wherever we need it”.
In an exclusive interview with NBC News’ Lester Holt in Tehran aired on Tuesday, Raeisi suggested that the Americans held in Iran would be coming home soon, saying that the US-Iran prisoner exchange deal would be completed in “due time” and that the American detainees were in “very healthy” condition.

A double world silver winner in 2021, Javadi registered 169kg to settle for the sixth spot in the snatch event, with Armenian Andranik Karapetyan (175kg), Moldavia’s Marin Robu (173kg), and Keydomar Vallenilla (171kg) finishing on the podiums.

Iran’s ‘No Prior Appointment’, directed by Behrouz Shoeibi and produced by Mahmoud Babaei, is set to take part in the 26th edition of the Religion Today Film Festival, to be held from September 13 to 20 in Trento, Italy.
In its 12th international screening, the film will compete in the Migration and Migrants section of the Italian festival. Religion Today is an international and itinerant film festival dedicated to religious diversity for a culture of peace and interfaith dialogue.

-- Oman to Set Up Social Club for Iranian Community
Oman’s Minister of Social Development Laila bint Ahmed al-Najjar has issued a ministerial decision on the formation of the Social Club for the Iranian Community, aimed at mobilizing the capabilities of its members to serve the social purposes of the members, Oman Observer reported.
The club will help members of the Iranian community in the Sultanate of Oman, who have a good reputation established among the Omani people, to strengthen the fraternal ties between the Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Iran in various cultural, intellectual, and social fields by organizing cultural, social, sporting and other events, it reported.
-- Hussein Vafaei Downs Gong Chenzhi at Shanghai Snooker Masters
Iran’s Hossein Vafaei has defeated his Chinese opponent at the 2023 Shanghai Snooker Masters. Iranian athlete emerged victorious over Gong Chenzhi 6-1.
In his next match, Vafaei is to meet his English rival Mark Selby on Tuesday.
The 2023 Shanghai Masters is being held in China from September 11-17. Some 16 stars from various countries are competing at the prestigious event.
-- Turkey, Iran Need to Expand Legal, Judiciary Cooperation
Secretary of Iran’s High Council for Human Rights Kazem Gharibabadi on Tuesday stressed the need to expand legal and judicial cooperation between Iran and Turkey.
Gharibabadi made the remarks in a meeting with the Turkish ambassador to Tehran Hicabi Kırlangıç.
Gharibabadi expressed readiness for strengthening interactions and expanding legal-judicial relations and cooperation with Turkey, adding that the expansion of judicial cooperation not only can enhance the overall bilateral ties, but also will be of great help to the citizens of the two countries.

-- Iran proposes children and youth union at SCO meeting
The director of Iran's Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults – Kanoon has proposed the formation of a union for children and youth in member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
In a speech at the 2023 Shanghai Cooperation Organization Youth Campus and SCO Youth Development Forum in the Chinese city of Dunhuang on Monday, Hamed Alamati emphasized the significance of cooperation among member countries of the organization to create a more hopeful and positive environment for young people.
-- Iran exports non-oil goods worth $3.5b to Iraq in 5 months
Iran exported non-oil commodities valued at $3.5 billion to Iraq during the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-August 22), the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) announced. As reported, Iraq was the second top export destination of Iranian non-oil goods in the mentioned five-month period.
As previously announced by an official with Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO), the value of Iran’s export to Iraq increased by 15 percent in the past Iranian calendar year 1401 (ended on March 20).
