Tehran, IRNA – A heavy fire broke out at the Ahangarans (Ironmongers) Market in Tehran, causing damage to 30 shops and warehouses, Tehran Fire Department has announced.

The Tehran Fire Department was quick to respond, dispatching seven fire stations to the scene, Spokesman of the Tehran Fire Department Jalal Maleki told IRNA on Tuesday.

The fire broke out in a three-story building with 250 shops and warehouses at 02:01 a.m. local time, he said, adding that firefighters were able to control the blaze, but around 30 shops and warehouses were destroyed, with damages ranging from 40% to 100%.
