Tehran, IRNA – Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Bagheri and Belarusian Defense Mnister General Viktor Khrenin in a meeting in Tehran called for expanding defense cooperation.

Major General Mohammad Bagheri and General Viktor Khrenin discussed the state and prospects of cooperation in training and deploying armed forces.

They also sketched out further steps aimed at deepening and intensifying bilateral interaction.

 Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces in the meeting emphasized the continuation and increase of defense cooperation between the two countries.

He said that as in the past, there was defense and security cooperation between the two countries, today also due to the changes in the global power structure, these relations should be expanded, because the global power structure is rapidly changing from a unipolar state to a multipolar world.

General Bagheri emphasized the importance of the exchange of defense experiences and voiced readiness to hold exercises and military cooperation in the field of education and science at the level of the armed forces of Iran and Belarus.

Belarus' Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin arrived in Iran on Monday on an official visit

Referring to the capabilities of Iran's armed forces in facing threats, Belarusian defense minister said that the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran have so far stood against threats and demonstrate their authority against the enemies.

Pointing to Iran's favorable position in the international arena, Viktor Khrenin said that the Islamic Republic has established its power in the world and also created favorable security in the West Asian region.
