Halva cooking on Tasu’a

Residents in the Iranian capital Tehran held a ceremony on Thursday to cook halva, a kind of confectionery traditionally made for mourning processions. The ceremony was held in southern Tehran, where groups of people made and distributed halva as part of measures to mark Tasu’a, the day before Ashura when Imam Hossein (AS) and his 72 companions were martyred 14 centuries ago.
