The Shrine of Imam Hussain (AS) in the Iraqi city of Karbala hosts pilgrims and lovers of Ahl-ul-Bait during Sha’ban, which is the eight month of the Islamic calendar and in which shia Muslims celebrate the birth anniversaries of Imam Hussain (AS), Hazrat Abbas bin Ali (AS), Imam Sajjad (AS), Hazrat Ali Akbar (AS) and Imam Mahdi (AS).

Millions of Muslims from across the world are converging on Iraq’s holy city of Karbala to commemorate Arbaeen which marks 40 days after the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia imam, Imam Hossein (AS), the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad. Arba’een pilgrims cross Chazzaben

Iranian pilgrims continue to cross the border with Iraq to conduct their pilgrimage of Arba’een that marks 40 days after the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hossein whose holy shrine is located in the city of Karbala.
