Baku, IRNA – Iran’s Ambassador to Baku Abbas Mousavi has announced that Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) and Azerbaijan State News Agency (Azertac) are to reopen their respective offices in Azerbaijan and Iran.

Mousavi told IRNA in an interview on Friday that the decision to reopen he offices were adopted after a visit by IRNA Managing Director Ali Naderi to Azerbaijani cities of Baku and Shusha earlier this week.

The ambassador underlined that relations between the two countries had been affected by a late January attack on Azerbaijan’s embassy in the Iranian capital in which one staff member was killed and two others were injured.

Meanwhile, the two made effort to vigilantly break through the difficult phase, Mousavi said.

He said that Tehran and Baku exchanged delegations to deal with some political misunderstandings that occurred between the two countries.

The ambassador expressed hope that the two neighboring states would soon witness an improvement in bilateral relations.

IRNA chief travelled to Azerbaijan earlier this week to take part in Global Media Forum in Shusha in west of the country. He also held talks with Chairman of Azertac Vugar Aliyev on ways to expand cooperation between the two sides.
