Islamabad, IRNA – Ceremonies to commemorate the 34th anniversary of the passing away of the late founder of Iran’s Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini have been held in Pakistani cities of Lahore and Peshawar.

The ceremonies were organized by Iran’s cultural centers in the two cities, and were attended by Pakistani figures as well as Iranian officials.

During the Monday ceremonies, participants delivered speeches on the great character of Imam Khomeini and elaborated on the role he played in the awakening of the Islamic Ummah.

They also hailed Imam Khomeini’s efforts that led to big changes in Iran and the region based on three elements of knowledge, endurance and courage.

Iranians marked Imam Khomeini’s passing away anniversary on Sunday, with a major ceremony held at his mausoleum and addressed by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
